As we all continue to practice social distance to slow the spread of Covid-19, we wanted to reach out to our patients’ families and review the procedures we have put in place. We take this threat seriously, and yet we also know that your pet might continue to need veterinary services. In the event that you need to visit us, you will find it helpful to review our practices ahead of time.
First, while we do appear closed, we have simply locked our lobby to the public. We continue to perform exams, treatments, and procedures as drop off only. Once you have arrived for your pet’s scheduled appointment time call us from your vehicle, and we will unlock the doors so that we may receive your pet at the door. The exchange will be quick and we will endeavor to maintain several feet of distance. If you are showing any symptoms of being unwell, please have someone else bring your pet in your stead.
Also, we are accepting payment via credit card over the phone only (no cash transactions). This helps us all to avoid exchanging money or handling credit cards.
Some of you might be wondering whether your pet could contract or spread the virus that causes Covid-19. So far there is no evidence to suggest that dogs and cats, or other companion animals, pose this risk. The CDC has not expressed any concern over the disease spreading this way, but we will certainly update you if anything changes (and that’s highly unlikely).
Finally, we would like to reaffirm our commitment to your pet’s health. This threat can be frightening for many of us, and our pets often pick up on that anxiety. You can reassure your pet by continuing their daily routine as much as possible, while of course eliminating unnecessary public outings. Walks in your yard are still acceptable, and in fact the fresh air and sunshine can be just as good for pets as it is for us!
Please continue to keep our phone number posted in a handy location in your home, or programmed into your phone. Check our Facebook page for updates regularly, and should you have any questions or need to schedule an appointment for your pet, please call TVAH at 951.200.3877.
